It's the week of Thanksgiving, and I have much to be thankful for.

I am thankful for the {relatively new} roof over our heads.

I am thankful for the sturdy {albeit uninsulated} walls that have kept this winter's howling winds out and warmth in.

I am thankful for our unfinished kitchen.  This was the week that we were supposed to be done.  We are a long ways from that, but it's for a few good reasons.  Michael has a job.  I have morning sickness.  We have 2 growing kids who need our attention.  Those are good reasons to not be anywhere close to where we were supposed to be on the reno schedule.

I am thankful for a husband who knows how to fix things, even complicated things, but who also knows when the better part of valor is to farm a job out.  We had a plumber come by today to look at doing the gas line and his comment to Michael was "how did you learn to do all of this?!?"

I am thankful for friends and strangers who are willing to share their knowledge.  In the last few years we have been taught by professional drywallers, carpenters, plumbers, contractors, tile guys and handymen.  They were generous with their expertise.

I am thankful for patient neighbors.  We've only gotten reprimanded once so far for being noisy too late in our deathly quiet neighborhood...and all of them are glad we're fixing the place up, no matter the pace.

I am thankful for family.  My mom has trekked down here twice a week to watch rambunctious kiddos so Michael can work.  She plays as hard as they do.  All of our family has been generous with their time to lend a hand, a place to stay as needed, a stove to cook on whenever we're reeeeaaaaallllyyyy tired of our usual "no kitchen" menu and feeding us from time to time when things get really stressful.

I am thankful for God's blessings in all of this.  Time and time again we have turned to God and said "Well God, we have no idea how to make this work.  Do you have any ideas?" and lo and behold, the perfect solution appears.  It may not be what we originally wanted, but it works out for the best in the end.

We're at the stage now where we can taste the end of this project, but in all reality it's pretty far from being done.  Still, there is hope!  This week Michael finished the floor in the living room and has focused on installing insulation {we had a cold snap - funny how priorities change!} and finishing up the fridge and pantry alcoves.  It's fun to see progress being made!

Wishing all of you a happy Thanksgiving, from our family to yours!
